Biography

Professor Pittman is an educator, business consultant and creative artist. After twenty plus years with Hewlett Packard/Agilent Technologies, she started her own consulting business offering organizational leadership and diversity and inclusion planning for companies, non-profits, and educational institutions. With her range of skills, she also designs and delivers specialized workshops on cultivating compassionate leadership skills, cultural competency and cultural sensitivity utilizing mindful practices. She is a facilitator of workshops with Stanford’s Center for Compassion & Altruism Research & Education, The Compassion Institute, Compassion Education Alliance and Healing Together. Professor Pittman was the Director for the Office of Diversity at Notre Dame de Namur for six years and an adjunct professor for four years. She’s a lecturer at Menlo College teaching Diversity in the Workplace, Culture in Media & Race & Racism. Professor Pittman is currently a doctoral student in Psychology with co-specializations in Consciousness, Spirituality & Integrated Health and Transformative Social Change at Saybrook University. Her research interests include the efficacy of mindfulness-based pedagogies in healing trauma, methods to heal and end racism and the isms of the day, and the power of connection, community and compassion in healing and transforming individuals and communities. Professor Pittman is the author of “Bread Crumbs From The Soul: Finding Your Way Back Home” – a book of her art, poetry and stories from her life.
